Sophia, a part of the Discovery group, focuses on the experimentation associated with developing and elucidating the various technologies associated with CRISPR/Cas and related gene therapies. Her favorite areas of this research include cell culture and the implementation of mammalian cell models into the various studies. Prior to being hired as a Staff Scientist, Sophia worked as a student intern during her senior year of her undergraduate studies where she optimized a more cost effective and timely protocol for Sanger Sequencing. When she is not in the lab, Sophia also serves as a part-time EMT with Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company.
