Danielle Zack oversees the Gene Editing Institute’s finances, budget, grants, and contracts. Danielle currently acts as the HR liaison by preparing and reviewing job descriptions for potential hires, completes new hire process for board approval before hiring new employees, and supports staff. She directs, plans, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates the financial grants, programs, contracts, and budgets within the institute as well as with partners

Prior to joining the Institute, she worked in academia for 8 years as a Senior Grants Analyst for the University of Delaware. There, she was responsible for building strong relationships and partners with research faculty and staff. Danielle would design annual and five-year grant budgets, providing assistance, advice, and reviewing internal financial reporting for Principal Investigators. She was responsible for managing, budgeting, and analyzing over 116 active grants throughout the College of Health Sciences, as well as a large program grant, INBRE, of over $25 million.

Before the University of Delaware, she worked in the banking industry for 10 years as a Corporate Client Services Senior Financial Services Officer and an Operations Unit Manager. She was responsible for providing relationship management to alliance partners and executives of various companies, accountable for budgeting, managing, and analyzing financial retirement plans. Also, serving as a mentor and manager to a large team of staff, providing direction, and professional growth opportunities. In addition, evaluated and streamlined fee processes to benefit shareholders of the company.

She received her B.S. and MBA from Frostburg State University with a concentration in Finance.
